Library: 2015 CAS (Career All Stars)

Created: 12/2015 by Bruce 'MAC' MacLeod

This library is an updated version of my original 2011 CAS. The library contains 720 batter /fielders and 720 pitchers - enough players to make up 36 teams with 40 man rosters. Of course, users are free to utilize this library in any manner they choose. Some players from the original library were dropped in favor of newer qualified ones. Let's face it - life can be cruel.

There are NO teams and no schedule. These are the perogative of the user. All players are free agents (FRAGENT).

Now for the gritty details of this library. The first step taken was to make up a list of all major league players (along with their seasonal stats) who were active between 1901 and 2015. Any missing data was estimated based on the best info available. Then the player's data was totaled for their career. All players with less than 5 active years were eliminated. I then determined their average stats based on what I considered a reasonable season's worth of games.  I then generated fielding stats for both batters and pitchers along with batting data for pitchers. I Then went through the batter and picher files and extracted my final list of both. NOTE: for pitchers with no batting data (think AL) I used all zeros for their batting data on the advise of our fearless leader and game guru.

The AGE and YEAR entries are the average of both for a player's career. The YEAR value will be used by DDBB in the normalizing of that player's data in playing the game. I think in most cases this will be reasonable.

I had a lot of fun creating this particular library. Quite frankly I spend more time playing around with different library ideas than I do playing DDBB but with this library I will be doing more of the latter. I hope everyone who uses this library gets years of enjoyment. If you have any questions you can email me at sgtmac5660ATattDOTnet. I can't promise there will be another update in the future as I'm not a spring chicken anymore  but if I'm still kicking and alert 5 years from now who knows.
